• Exalead, which originated in France, but which also has a San Francisco operation, is an innovative search engine that has introduced some sophisticated search functionality that has been missing in search engines for one-to-six years.

Search functionality

• Functionality that has been brought back includes proximity, which AltaVista used to have, and truncation
• Exalead also includes unique (for search engines) phonetic spelling, approximate spelling, and regular expression search capabilities.
• Most of Exalead's other capabilities are in the other major search engines.
