Exalead: Advanced Search
Interface
Intro
- Exalead, which originated in
France, but which also has a San Francisco operation, is an
innovative search engine that has introduced some sophisticated
search functionality that has been missing in search engines for
one-to-six years.
- The database of downloaded Web
pages and other files still lags behind most major search engines,
even Gigablast.
- URL: http://www.exalead.com
Search
functionality
- Functionality that has been
brought back includes proximity, which AltaVista used to have, and
truncation
- Exalead also includes unique
(for search engines) phonetic spelling, approximate spelling, and
regular expression search capabilities.
- Most of Exalead's other
capabilities are in the other major search engines.
- Below is the Advanced Search
interface, but most of the functionality is available in the
basic. To see how, click on Exalead's very good Help pages.
In particular, look at the "Narrowing Down Your Search"
and "Widening Your Search" help pages.
