Reality is not what you think it is - Faux magaines from blueroom a/d/i aka Blue Room a/d/i

CONCEPT/THEME
- Much of what we believe, we know is because of media. Print, radio, television, Internet all provide us with the information that we use to perceive and understand the world and formulate our own beliefs about it. In other words, we are limited to what we know and what we can think about what we know by the nature of the information that we receive. While many of the producers of all types of media attempt to provide us with objective information, there are also numerous sources of information that provide us biased information or biased analyses of information. Think about the difference between the PBS news program, '"The News Hour, " and any "O'Reilly Report."
  As an artist, I find the discrepancy between what information we are fed and the underlying reality a fascinating and very porous border, not unlike a membrane water filter that allows certain, supposedly innocuous, materials through with the H₂0 while preventing more dangerous materials from corrupting the quality of the water.
SO, "REALITY AIN'T WHAT YOU THINK IT IS"
- This is a series of prints of the cover designs of overtly real magazines. "ffffake" above was the first in the series, as I wanted the title to emphasize the "unreality" of the content. Nonetheless, why could it not be possible that Lucas Arts is doing the special effects that the often magnificant Hawaiian sunsets are? We are often willing to suspend disbelief when reading novels, watching television (fiction and otherwise), listening to politicians. So, the succeeding prints, the succeeding "magazine" covers do not acceed to the fictional. Instead they purport to be real, to contain real content.
- So, our reality, pragmatic and conceptual art-oriented, may not be what we think it is. This series of graphics merely gives it a push in the "unreal" direction. Is it art? Well, Picasso's Guernica (and I AM NOT comparing myself or my work to the prolific P) was based on bad information, actually politically intended mis-information. Does it make the wonderful painting any less important, any less wonderful. (It is inspiring. I saw it when it was still in the US.) My graphics are more of a "what if" but presented as if they are the reality.

FORMATS & PRICE - ORIGINAL LIMITED 11"X14" EDITION
- Each original 11"x14" design in the "Reality Ain't What You Think It Is" series is limited to a first edition of 100 and hand-signed and numbered by the artist. They are made with archival-quality inks and papers and intended to be displayed without mats. Consequently, whether with or without frame, they are not shipped with mats.
  Each print is $75 WITHOUT frame. It can be shipped rolled in a tube via USPS priority mail and insured for an additional $10. Californians will be charged sales tax.
  
  Each print is $100 in a basic, black , thin-edge 11"x14" photographic display frame (1/4" border, 3/4" deep, no mat) with backing. Californians will be charged sales tax.
  - The framed print will be secured in bubble wrap and shipped in a box via USPS priority mail for an additional $20.

FORMATS & PRICE -UNLIMITED EDITIONS

On the other hand, some people prefer matted and lower-cost prints. Consquently, there are also unlimited, non-hand-signed editions in 8x10 and 11x14. These editions also use archival inks and papers and include a single, bevel-cut mat, backing board, and are sealed in a transparent envelope.
