The Martin Luther King Library in
downtown San Jose (corner of Fourth Street and East San Fernando)
is a rare library in that it is the joint operation of public (San
Jose Public Library) and academic (California State University
San Jose) libraries.
The result is a large (At least
1.5 million items) and highly varied collection of materials
available to both the public and academic communities.
Note: The number of items does not include the materials at
San Jose Public Library's 17 branches.
Virtually anything in the library
can be checked out by both communities.
Virtually all the databases
offered by the respective library systems can be accessed by
anyone in the library.
Outside of the library, though,
only currently registered SJSU students plus SJSU faculty and
staff.
The San Jose Public Library
System, SJSU, and a few other libraries in the South Bay are
members in Link+, which providess access to the
five-million-plus titles (over 35 million total items) in over 35
other college and public libraries. These items can be delivered
to the member library and branch
Science,
Engineering, & Technology
Databases - Most of
these are only available to everyone on campus. Off-campus, you
need to be a currently registered student, staff, or
faculty.
