Why Do We Do
Environmental Research?
- The problems that all life forms
face in this ever-more-crowded world are extremely
serious.
- In order to solve those problems,
we need to understand the nature of the interactions among:
- Organisms in their own
environment.
- Human populations and all
other organisms.
- The processes and products of
human production and consumption and the
environment.
Why Must We Do It
in a Scientifically Rigorous Manner?
- We need to validate, through the
use of scientific methodology, the dynamics of all of those
interactions discussed above.
- That scientifically validated
information will be used to make persuasive arguments to the
public and those with political power in other to preserve the
environment while assuring a viable quality of life for human
communities.
